Animal Behavior College, Inc. (ABC) and our subsidiaries have been in the business of working with animal lovers for nearly 30 years. We are a nationwide vocational school in the U.S. and in Canada dedicated to helping animal lovers succeed in the rewarding animal careers they dream of. With programs of study specializing in the pet industry, ABC has become the industry leader in animal care courses. We often say we are in the business of helping people help animals.

With our sister company, Animal Behavior and Training Associates, Inc. (ABTA), we educated dog owners on how to train using positive training techniques at Petco’s across the United States and Petcetera in Canada. When seeking professional trainers to conduct group classes at these locations, we found that there was a large desire for animal lovers who wanted to begin a career working with animals. As avid animal lovers ourselves, we realized the opportunity we had to help animal lovers pursue their dream and turn their passion into a profession. Thus, Animal Behavior College was born.

ABC currently provides high quality educational animal career programs to students throughout North America who are interested in the training that grooming programs offer. Our Certified Grooming Instruction Program is perfect for the individual wishing to have a better understanding of animals and to pursue a career in their caretaking.

Unique Education Model – Combination of In-Home and Hands-On Training
Perfect for the busy individual, the Grooming Instruction Program’s flexible and convenient home-study portion enables you to earn your groomer certification while studying in the comfort of your own home. When you reach the program’s externship stage, you will be set up at a local grooming facility or mobile grooming environment for hands-on training and application of what you learned in the previous stages. The combination of a thorough, comprehensive curriculum and an exhilarating, real-life experience in the field of professional pet care, prepares you to tackle your new profession with enthusiasm and confidence.

The ABC Grooming Instruction Program is unique, containing both an in-home and hands-on component. Some professional groomer schools require their students to relocate to on-site facilities for a period of time in order to complete their animal care studies. This option isn’t feasible for most people, as it would obligate them to put their lives on hold (i.e. careers, other schooling). The cost to complete this type of program can be expensive as well. Brick-and-mortar grooming schools can charge anywhere from $9,000 to $11,000 for this type of comprehensive education.

There are also schools that don’t require any hands-on training at all. These programs consist of home study and exams, without providing the invaluable opportunity to work with an experienced groomer or in a grooming environment. Hands-on training is critical!

Professional Guidance Available Throughout the Program and Beyond
ABC is owned and operated by avid animal experts and enthusiasts who are trained and eager to assist you in pursuing your dream career. Our friendly, helpful staff members are dedicated to animals and their well-being, and are excited to share this passion with you. Upon contacting ABC, you will speak with an Admissions Counselor who will give you information and answer any questions you may have about the ABC Certified Groomer Training Program and what sets us apart from other grooming colleges. Once enrolled, you will be assigned to a Personal Program Manager who will assist you throughout your ABC education. You will have someone to contact while you pursue each stage, and they will be able to address any questions you may have.
