Maybe you were on a vacation and while snorkeling you found both Dori and Nemo and it ignited a fire in you that you didn’t even know was there? Or you just have always loved the calm and peaceful environment that a well-maintained aquarium can provide to any space. Regardless of how it came about, you took your passion by the hand, embraced it and took the plunge into the Aquarium Maintenance Program. Now that you are an alumnus you are probably wondering what is next and how you can use your alumni status to help you on your career path.
Some of our students come into the program with a clear vision of what they are going to do next and the path they want to travel down. If that is you, fantastic! Get out there and make it happen for yourself. However, you might be asking yourself this question, “What’s next? I have spent many months studying and learning from the largest animal school of its kind in the nation. I love everything about fish, fresh water, salt water, coral, and ponds, but I am still not sure what my next steps should be now that I have my certification.”
First off, remember that your certification is valid and recognized in all 50 states in the US and every province in Canada. When you were a student, you were able to log in via the Student Login Button on the main webpage. Now you have access to the curriculum for life using the Alumni Log in button (as long as you have signed up for your free alumni benefits). This means that if you ever need to go back and reference something it is there for you. Plus, whenever the school makes any updates or changes to the curriculum you will automatically have access to it. This will keep you relevant on the most up-to-date trends in the industry. Not only does this great tool keep you current, but it is also a free resource. There is no need to pay any more money or buy any new books, you have it all right at your fingertips because you are an ABC alumnus now.
Remember now that you have graduated you have exclusive access to our private alumni Job board that is updated daily. We know there are many options out there where jobs can be located. However, since there is no cost to post help wanted ads on our job board for animal companies, pet suppliers, etc., they often take advantage of this zero-cost platform to promote open positions. What does this mean for you? You have access to a posted list of aquarist related jobs and can easily apply to these jobs through our job board.
Let’s say you have decided to go to work for yourself and start your own aquarium maintenance business. While in the living room of a client providing routine maintenance on a saltwater aquarium, you notice that in addition to their fish they have both a dog and a cat as well. Then you remember that Animal Behavior College has several s where you can continue your education and grow the list of services you can offer. If you were to sign up for the Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Course and complete it, you will now be able to offer your current clients more services and gain new clients with your new expertise.
