Hello! My name is Maddie, and I am the Owner and Head Trainer here at Woofology LLC.
I have extensive experience working with animals since I was a young child. I was always “that kid” that took in strays and animals in need and did the best I could to give them love and care.
At the age of 10 years, I entered into the horsemanship arena and competed regionally in equestrian horse shows, and even won a few Championships!
I always took horses that had little training–virtual diamonds-in-the-rough and turned them into champions.
We didn’t have a lot of money to buy championship ponies, so with a lot of love, effort, and training I made them.
I always found myself on the animals that were a little misunderstood—and therefore a little mismanaged, stubborn and somewhere outright dangerous.
I stuck with them and we eventually succeeded in giving these animals a chance at doing something important. All my life, I seem to end up meeting those “troubled souls” in need of love, care, and training.
When I was in College, I met and married my husband. He is in the Air Force and his work took us halfway across the globe to Okinawa, Japan. There I finished my degree (I wanted to be a high school teacher–I love to teach and make a difference) but I found that my passion and skills were needed to help with the extensive stray problem on the island.
I volunteered with the local Animal Rescue group where we managed to save many lives, rehome them and get them stateside. I personally fostered the big dogs—and the ones that had “issues”. It was also in Okinawa where we started our family.
After our four-year tour was over, we returned to New Mexico. We faced some personal hardship upon our arrival, a hardship that made me realize life is precious, short and always uncertain.
It was at this time that I decided I needed to do what I always wanted to—work with animals as a career. I already had so much experience working with dogs and that “natural” understanding of animal behavior it was clear that pursuing a certification in Obedience Dog Training was the next step.
I have successfully completed the training program with Animal Behavior College and am a Certified Obedience Dog Trainer.
I am currently working on becoming a SAFER temperament tester as well as gaining further certifications in various specialties.
My current passion is helping the lives of animals across New Mexico.
I am a huge advocate for spay & neuter initiatives and education, as well as urging people to “adopt, don’t shop”.
I encourage everyone to get their puppies from reputable breeders only. I am active in the Rescue Community and will continue to contribute my time, money, skills and efforts to create a better world for the animals in our area.
