Hi! I’m Jenn and I do people training for dogs!
I grew up with many animals- dogs, cats, rabbits, and I even had a domesticated pet rooster named Mikey! Learning how to communicate with animals, especially dogs, fascinated me, and it made me want to understand them even more. In 2008 I decided to officially study and obtain my certification to teach basic obedience through the Animal Behavior College. My training partner at the time was a little black and tan street puppy who I found living in a wooded lot, covered in ticks and fleas. Bella, who passed away in 2020, became my 14-year partner in crime and was the impetus for the name Bellalu. Her calico cat sister Lucy is the second half of the name, Lu. I now have a new project, Poppy, a year-old 25lb Mexican street dog rescue who is giving me a run for my money!
There are many methods of training dogs. After learning about the different methods and looking at the science, I decided to focus on positive reinforcement. This methodology rewards the good behavior while gently redirecting undesirable behaviors to more positive ones. We work together to establish a bond between you and your dog, which creates an environment where the dog wants to please you, and understands what you are asking them to do, as you establish cues using clear and effective communication.
The goal is to have fun working with your dog while creating a life together everyone enjoys.
